The Artist

My name is André Floyd.

I am a ceramist artist and potter, based in Hudson, Québec, Canada.

I started studying pottery in 1996 and graduated in 1997 from the Centre de céramique Bonsecours in Montréal.
I have my own studio since 1998, ASUJA Ceramics, where I specialize in the creation of decorative & utilitarian porcelain tableware. All my pieces are hand-thrown in semi-translucent porcelain and high-fired in a electric kiln.

The Inspiration for my pottery comes from traditional oriental pottery, architecture, painting, and the beauty of the natural world. I love the outdoors and over the years, I have made numerous canoe-camping excursions in Ontario, Québec, and New York State. Spending countless hours in a canoe, enjoying the amazing scenery around me, has inspired me to reproduce these landscapes onto my pottery using various glazes.

My creations are hand-thrown porcelain vessels featuring glaze paintings of picturesque moments of Canadiana, to relax the soul and titillate the senses.

I hope you will enjoy the tour of my gallery.
